For this contract our client wanted to change the actual layout of their staircase.
So the existing staircase was removed and opening in the first floor was adjusted to suite the new staircase.
The staircase was fabricated off site and supplied flat packed ready for assembly on site.
The staircase in this picture had softwood strings, with MDF treads and risers. The handrail was mahogany which is a hardwood and was designed so that it was continuous on the first floor so that it flowed over the tops of the newel posts. The spindles and newel posts are again softwood.
This staircase was made this way for economical reasons but it can if you want be constructed all out of hardwood!
